The TOP500 project has released the 53rd rating of the world's most powerful supercomputers. The ICTnews e-News Service reports that this rating has been compiled by scientists from both the United States and Germany twice a year since 1993, according to hitech.newsru.com. The top supercomputer of the USA - Summit (148.6 petaflops) and Sierra (94.6 petaflops) took the first place in the new rating. China's Sunway TaihuLight and Tianhe-2A supercomputer were third and fourth, while the US Frontera (23.5 petaflops) took the 5th place. China (219) is the leader in terms of the number of supercomputers. The United States (116), Japan (29), France (19), Great Britain (18) and Germany (14) are in the next places.
